The article reveales biotechnological and colonization potential of bifidobacterium strain Bifidobacterium infantis DSM 20088. This strain of bifidobacteria is characterized by a high growth and reproduction rate with the accumulation of a sufficient number of cells. The research states a high content of exopolysaccharides, which indicates adhesive ability of bifidobacteria to attach to intestinal walls and have a positive effect on child's body. The resuls show that bifidobacteria tolerate adverse conditions of the gastrointestinal environment wel and that oatmeal stimulates the growth of bifidobacteria and has prebiotic properties. The optimal dose of oatmeal in the amount of 3 % is selected. The data obtained indicate the expediency of joint use of the probiotic strain Bifidobacterium infantis and the prebiotic oatmeal for the production of a symbiotic product for children.
