Introduction. The article presents the results of a study of the problem of the emotional intelligence and empathy of university students. An analysis of theoretical approaches to this problem in domestic and foreign psychology is carried out. The results of an empirical study conducted among students of the Faculty of Law of the Synergy University are described, during which the features of the relationship between their intellectual and leadership qualities are revealed. Statistically significant differences in the level of development of intellectual and leadership qualities were revealed. We have set the following tasks: 1) on the basis of a theoretical analysis of scientific literature, to reveal the essence of the concepts of “leadership” and “intelligence”; 2) to explore the intellectual and leadership qualities of students in their relationship. Materials and Methods: analysis of scientific literature; observation; psychodiagnostic methods (tests, conversation); experimental methods; mathematical and statistical methods (Spearman’s rank correlation method). Results. The results of the study related to the identification of the relationship between intellectual and leadership qualities among students are presented. Discussion and Conclusion. The relationship between the intellectual and leadership qualities of students was revealed.
