Research of invention space to justify directions for diversification of technological export

Бесплатный доступ

The article is devoted to modeling the global space of inventive activity using the methodology of machine analysis of patent data. The object of the study was the technological areas of activity related to section F (mechanical engineering; lighting; heating; weapons and ammunition; blasting) and section H (electricity) of the joint patent classification. In the outline of these spheres of activity, the patterns of manifestation of the effects of technological proximity between groups of different developments have been revealed. The modeling of the technology inventions space relies on a technological proximity index estimation between different subclasses of inventions, which takes the concept of knowledge proximity from Jaccard's similarity coefficient, derived from the direct patent citation data. On the basis of the modeling results, the diversification prospects of the national trade in technology are rationalized, disclosing the reasoning behind the utilization of technology domains with a high RTA index as drivers of the export potential of technologically related domains with a low RTA value.
