Research of electrodynamic forces influencing the arcs of three-phase EAF

The article describes the calculation principle for electrodynamic forces influencing the electric arcs of a three-phase EAF and their graphic representation. Extreme type of the relationship between current and active power consumed from the network is explained. The article proves that metal meniscus is formed under the arc when the currents correspond with descending branch of graphic chart showing the relationship between current and arc power only. Graphic representation of the arc allows choosing the effective operating point for any period of melting process.
