Study of pharmaceuticals “Validol” and “Menovazine” by thin layer chromatography method

This article describes the methods of qualitative identification of menthol in “Validol” and “Menovazine” drugs by thin-layer chromatography. The following eluents were tested: benzene-ethyl acetate (95:5); toluene-ethyl acetate (95:5); hexane-ethyl acetate (95:5), and hexane-ethyl acetate (9:1). Anisic and cyclamen aldehyde-based reagents were used to detect the adsorption zones. The chromatographic plates were examined in UV light at wavelengths of 254 and 365 nm.
