Research on metaphors in Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin’s speech

Metaphors are not just a phenomenon in language, they reflect our ways of thinking. Our system of concepts, on which our thoughts and actions are based, is essentially metaphorical. Consequently, the analysis of metaphors in speech can help to more deeply reveal the basic systems of thinking of Russians and more fully understand the real external crises that Russia faces. Studies have shown that in these televised speeches, Putin made extensive use of metaphors for war, metaphors for travel, metaphors for construction, and metaphors for the body. According to the theory of postmodernism, language has a constructive meaning. From the analysis of metaphors in these television speeches, it follows that metaphors serve as a guiding and inspiring tool, awakening deep patriotism and a spirit of harmony in the hearts of Russian citizens.
