Studies of plant-names and an ethnic world image: defining the problem

This paper proposes a brief review of the history of researches in the vocabulary of plant-names (as well as names of some plant parts). The author puts special emphasis on the sources of the modern ethnolinguistic approach. Some prospects of the further research are outlined.
