Research of the role of economic institutions in the conditions of the digital economy: theoretical and methodological approaches

Scientific developments on the role of institutions and the characteristics of their development are of considerable interest in the context of their behavior in the context of digital transformations. This is all the more important since the views of institutionalism representatives on this problem vary considerably. In this regard, the scientific article describes the methodological apparatus of institutionalism; generalizes theoretical ideas about institutions and institutional changes; reveals the main theoretical ideas about the digital economy and the practical directions of its use. The novelty of the author’s approach lies in the combination of scientific studies of two theoretical areas: institutional and digital economics.
