Investigation of a horizontal air flow separator

The article is devoted to the study of the movement of grain heap particles on the cylindrical surface of the separator. In the production of grain crops, post-harvest processing is one of the most responsible and energy-intensive operations. Machines, aggregates and complexes for post-harvest processing of grain, which are in service with farms, are worn out, and their productivity often does not suit agricultural producers. Most of the machines currently in operation are of the air-grid type, the main organ of which is the grid part, and the additional one is the pneumatic system. The use of pneumatic separators is the most common technique for pre-cleaning grain piles. The research results of many scientists show that more than half of the impurities contained in the initial grain material can be isolated by air flow. The purpose of the article is to determine the dependence of the movement of grain heap particles on the cylindrical surface of a pneumatic centrifugal separator with a horizontal air flow, as well as to determine whether the separator belongs to the group of grain cleaning machines. This article substantiates the relevance of post-harvest grain processing in the agro-industrial complex, as well as the design of a centrifugal pneumatic separator with a horizontal air flow and describes the process of its operation. A centrifugal pneumatic separator with a horizontal air flow is a technical device, the principle of operation of which is based on the separation of individual particles of a grain heap according to such characteristics as mass, specific resistance to air flow and surface shape. In the course of conducting research, a mathematical model of the motion of a grain heap particle along the cylindrical surface of a grain separator with a centrifugal horizontal air flow was obtained. Applying the obtained mathematical dependence, it is possible to describe the trajectory of the grain heap particles of different fractional composition. According to the results of the experimental data, it was revealed that the experimental separator with a horizontal air flow belongs to the primary grain cleaning machines.
