Oil shales pyrolysis tar composition from borehole 356 Chim-Loptyugskaya has been studied. The presence of a wide spectrum of aliphatic, aromatic and heterocompounds with predominant thiophenic structures were determined. The composition of the tar characteristically depends on the location of the sample. The oil shales with the special quality are confined to the lower parts of shale beds. The most sulphurous tar with the lowest content of linear hydrocarbons was found in the richest shales from the lower part of the section. Upward the section the quality of the shales decreases together with decrease of the sulphur content of shale tar. The high content of low molecular alkylthiophenes in the tar from chim-loptyugsky shales allows considering it as potentially valuable chemical raw.
