A study of coping strategies in students with a tendency to dysmorphophobic experiences

This article discusses strategies for coping behavior among students with manifestations of dysmorphic phobia. The modern understanding of the phenomenon of dysmorphic phobia is presented, the main diagnostic criteria are considered, among which expressed concern about appearance, anxiety, depressive experiences, voluntary social isolation, and the desire to correct a defect are highlighted. A study was conducted on the propensity of students to dysmorphophobic experiences when dividing the sample by gender. A statistically significant frequency prevalence of female students among those with dysmorphophobic experiences was revealed. Strategies of coping behavior in people dissatisfied with their own appearance have been studied. The results of the analysis revealed the interrelationships between the tendency to dysmorphic phobia and coping strategies.
