Tests for cyclic tension and sign-variable bending of specimens from 12Cr1MoV steel in reference state and after nanostructuring of surface by Zr +ion beam are carried out. Methods of optical microscopy, interferential profilometry showed distinctions in formation of strain induces relief, and also the nature of modified surface layer cracking. Estimation of changes in the surface layer is received by nanoindenting, and also fractography researches of fracture surface. By methods of a translucent electronic microscopy it is shown that after processing the surface layer of specimens gets a nanostructural condition with intermetallic and carbid inclusions. The description of distinctions in nature of deformation behavior with the use of multiple cracking concept is carried out.
