Study of weldability of alloys B-1469 and 01570С using electron-beam welding as applied to the advanced manned spacecraft structure

The given article is dedicated to the integrated study of weldability of alloys B-1469 and 01570С of large thickness when using electron-beam welding as applied to the advanced manned spacecraft structure, as well as to the development of a procedure of the electron-beam welding of different half-finished products (sheet, plate, rolled ring) of the advanced aluminum alloys for quality evaluation of welds in as-welded condition and after additional heating simulating the possible backing runs in the actual structure. The operation was conducted by selecting structural sizes of the joint and parameters of the mode providing full penetration of the given thickness with satisfactory welds generated. The welding of flat and ring specimens for quality evaluation of the joints made by nondestructive and destructive control methods and for study of macro and microstructure of welds was also conducted. The weld ability characteristics of alloys 01570С and В-1469 were determined.
