The article is part of a complex of studies devoted to solving the problem of labor motivation of teachers in orphanages. In the process of conceptual analysis of the development of the theory of motivation and the characteristics of labor motivation of pedagogical workers in orphanages, it was determined that a decrease in labor activity of the considered professional group is associated with demotivating factors. These factors include: poor relations in the teaching staff; bad relations with the administration of the institution; dissatisfaction with the wage system, economic and moral incentives; shortcomings in the organization of work. The degree of satisfaction with the employee's personality is in this regard in direct proportion and can be measured by a set of assessments from various aspects of the professional activities of the employees of the institution. The article attempts to empirically diagnose the job satisfaction of pedagogical workers in orphanages in order to outline the ways of management decisions aimed at improving the social status of teachers in an organizational context.
