Radial initial deformation influence on residual stresses distribution in a surface hardened cylinder has been examined. Using Finite Elements modeling and PATRAN/NASTRAN program complex calculations for various combinations of initial deformations components have been made. It's been shown that the average integral residual stresses criterion depends only on axial residual stresses of hardened part surface layer. It's been established that the axial residual stresses changes are small under transition from the initial deformations isotropic distribution to the anisotropic one. These changes decrease when moving from the surface to the cylinder axe. It's also been established that residual stresses calculation using isotropic initial deformations is the calculation in the reliability margin.
