The article is devoted to german orientalists - scientists, members of St.-Petersburg Science Academy - V.V. Radlov, M.A. Castren and G. S. Baier. Their fundamental phonetics and grammar research in the field of oriental philology was scientifically revolutionar that time and created basis for russian oriental studies.
