The article shows a fragment of research grant project results of the study of psychological factors that influence the alcohol consumption by childbearing age women. Research materials of sample of 80 non-pregnant women living in St. Petersburg, at risk for alcohol use, described. Following personal characteristics peculiar to the respondents were identified: low level of internality, introversion, low level of responsibility, emotional instability. The hierarchy of respondents’ motives was also investigated: the highest number of motivational objects occurs in the sphere of self-realization. Furthermore most of the motivational objects are not localized in time, and the high value of unclassified responses indicates a lack of motives formation. In addition, it was found that health is not represented among the motivational objects and is not a priority motive even in women who actively want children.
