Excavations on the southwest slope of the Markula hillfort

The find of a wall in situ at the foot of the hill slope with a hillfort on the southwestern part was an important discovery made in 2016. Examination of the slope was launched in the same year. The test boring discovered a female grave of the 4th century as well as a layer with black-glazed ceramics. The 2017 excavations confirmed presence of a Hellenistic layer at the site.
