Research data and conclusions related to the omicron strain of coronavirus (COVID-19)

«Omicron» is a strain of coronavirus that was first registered in November 2021 in South Africa and Botswana, and in December it was brought to Russia. This article presents the main results of research on the topic of omicron. Hypotheses of the origin of the strain, its danger and infectability, its subspecies and the likelihood of new strains are considered. Omicron is a new variant of coronavirus infection, which has been with us for two years. The contagiousness of this strain turned out to be much higher than the previously existing variations.
