The publication was prepared on the basis of the speeches of the participants of the round table “True Russia is a country of mercy, not hatred”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the death of an outstanding 20th century Russian emigrant writer Boris Konstantinovich Zaitsev (1881-1972). The event, which took place on February 2, 2022 in a remote format, was organized by the scientific and educational project of the SPbTA Publishing House “Byzantine Cabinet” together with the SPbTA Theology Department and Foreign Languages Department. The theses of the speeches of some participants are published, based on the material of individual works and themes in Zaitsev’s work (memoirs of the writer and his contemporaries, the novel “Golden Pattern”, the tetralogy “Gleb’s Journey”, the story “Agraphena”, books, essays and letters about Athos) considering the features of his literary style, historiosophy and worldview. It is noted that the creative heritage of the great artist has not lost its relevance today and continues to have a Christian beneficial effect on the modern reader.
