Sources of ‘vitalism’ in Russian literature of the first half of the XIXth century

The main sources and the meaning of the literary phenomenon “vitalis”, which implies a special role of the theme of life in the works of Russian writers, are discussed in the article. In this context, the paper analyses connections of the Russian literature of the beginning of the 19th century with German culture and its Biblical traditions.
