On the history of the emergence of ancient cities in the Northeastern Caucasus

The article analyzes the process of the emergence of cities in the North-Eastern Caucasus during the period of antiquity, as well as the features of their fortification. The relevance of the topic is due to the fact that uncovering a number of questions about the time and features of the formation and development of ancient cities will make it possible to illuminate the problem of the formation of statehood of the East Caucasian peoples, as well as their culture and economy.
