Historical memory of student youth of the region and the problem of its falsification

Historical memory is an integrative object of research in the theoretical approaches of foreign and domestic authors. The distortion and falsification of historical memory is manifested to a greater extent in the youth environment, as the most transitive category of the population. The young generation is subject to the influence of various external sources, thanks to which it exhibits tolerance to complex events. E. Durkheim laid the basic approaches to the study of collective memory, then it continued M. Halbvaks and A. Warburg ("social memory"). The Polish school o f historical memory research in the context of a sociocultural approach (B. Szacka, E. Vyatr) introduces a new concept - "cyber memory” (K. Shtop-Rutkovska). Domestic sociological concepts of historical memory are presented by the discussion in the periodical press (J.T. Toshchenko, A.G. Vasilyev, I.B. Britvina). The methodological basis of the research is the generational approach fo rmulated by H. Schumann and J. Scott. The student youth of the region was chosen as the basic generation for the analysis. The empirical part is based on the secondary data of Russian (2012-2015) regional studies, which demonstrate the complex relations between subject and object in the context of the dynamics of social relations. For young people the theme of the Motherland, its national self-determination remains significant. At the same time, the main categories of these concepts remain quite vague, which is associated with the loss of a significant part of the traditional channels of transmission of historical memory, the transfer of these functions as a whole exclusively to the institution of education, which cannot compensate for the loss of meaning and significance of historical events.
