Summary Malignant tumors of the mammary glands are a frequent cause of disability of women due to the lack of glands or the presence of operational defects. In the treatment of breast cancer, the goal is always to increase the chances of recovery and reduce the likelihood of recurrence. In most cases, surgery quality determines further social activity of patients. Perfectly performed surgery is not a guarantee of a good quality of life of the patient in the future. The well-performed reconstructive plastic surgery may have cosmetic defects, the correction of which cannot be carried out in one or two stages (for 30 example, a small asymmetry of the mammary glands or filling defects of the upper or lower slopes of the breast). These defects can adversely affect the quality of life of patients. The loss of a mammary gland, which is a symbol of femininity, becomes a strong emotional shock, and the defect after the operation is a constant reminder of the terrible diagnosis. Even a small surgical defect can affect the psychological state of the patient.
