The article discusses the use of police dogs in the activities of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Irkutsk Regional Executive Committee (hereinafter ATC IO) in the 1960s and 1980s in the detection and investigation of crimes. The issues of the staffing of the police dogs units, the system of training dog handlers and during the specified period, as well as the specifics of their use in the detection and investigation of crimes are investigated. Regulatory legal acts of the Ministry of Public Order Protection (hereinafter referred to as the MOO) are being studied The USSR (RSFSR), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (hereinafter the Ministry of Internal Affairs) of the USSR (RSFSR) and the UOP (ATC) of the Irkutsk Regional Executive Committee aimed at improving this activity in the region under study.
