Historic centre of Saint Petersburg and related groups of monuments today and tomorrow: problems and goals of world heritage property’s management

Lack of management systems is now recognized as one of the key factors affecting the value and integrity of World Heritage cities. Currently, the general part of the management plan for one of the most complex urban sites - “Historical Centre of St. Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments”, inscribed on the UNESCO List in 1990 - is being developed. The concept of the document involves the formation of a management system that is based on the characteristics of the property and its needs, and does not replace the existing system of cultural heritage protection.
