Historical look back at the development of the theory of forensic characteristics of the crime

The article examines the question of upto-date knowledge of the category of forensic characteristics of the crime with a view of its historical development. The author indicates that in various historical periods increased importance has been given to the category under study. The author states that this category is considered to be a “phantom”. Moreover, the article stresses particular practical relevance of the research of the issues of forensic characteristics of the crime needed to investigate and solve criminal cases.
