History of philosophy as a scientific research program: an analysis of some approaches in modern Russian history of philosophy

The article attempts to present history of philosophy as a scientific research program with its own philosophical and research methodology. Searching for examples to illustrate this statement, the authors address the works of T.G. Shchedrina and VA. Kurennoi, focusing on their approaches both to the study of historical-philosophical material in general and to the consideration of the major processes in the history of philosophy. The authors focus on specific structure of the history of philosophy as a scientific research program, describing its methodological and epistemological characteristics. The conclusion is made that if treated as a scientific research program history of philosophy can experience a serious increase of its scientific status. However, the authors note, that such an approach can face a number of limitations and contradictions.
