History of philosophy in H. Bergson’s works: two concepts or one?

Бесплатный доступ

The article analyzes Henri Bergson’s views on the contents of history of philosophy. In this respect the author focuses on two key works “L’évolution créatrice” and “L'intuition pholosophique” that give grounds to raise the problem of discontinuity and change of positions in Bergson’s philosophical works. The author concludes that one should distinguish two trends within bergsonism. Apparently, Bergson sought to find a suitable combination of them, addressing this task again and again, but failing to find the general formula. The richness of the history of philosophy did not fit into intuitionistic model - elegant and sophisticated, but still somewhat simplified in comparison with reality. This model was the consequence of certain ontology, but the latter was questioned by further course of events.
