For many centuries, great philosophers, scientists, enlighteners, and educators have placed music and music education as one of the most important stages of general upbringing and education. Drawing on the rich Russian experience in the field of music education, Mongolia has undergone a long process of transformation. The research conducted by the author is based on the chronological interconnection of the general history, cultural studies, and pedagogy of professional music education in Mongolia and Russia. The history of the formation of professional music education in Mongolia is associated with educators from the USSR who were engaged in educational and enlightening activities among Mongolian children, introducing them to the world musical heritage. The author notes that during the period from 1937 to 1944, art schools were opened, symphony orchestras and professional dance groups were formed, and the development of professional performance schools in classical music took place. The second half of the 20th century marked a new stage in the development of the modern Mongolian system of music education, the foundation of which is traditional national folklore. During this period, educational reforms were initiated in Mongolia and a new system of music education was proposed, which, according to the author, opens up and develops the talents and abilities of preschoolers and schoolchildren. Furthermore, the author notes that the process of developing music education has a multi-level basis, starting from general music education, then continuing with secondary vocational education, bachelor's programs, and conservatories. The ideas laid down more than 80 years ago help preserve the fundamental and extensive nature and define the development strategy of Mongolian music education in the 21st century.
