The history and development of the Vietnamese Diaspora in Russia

The article deals with the history of the migration process from Vietnam to Russia from the early XX century until the present day. Using historical and statistical data on the labour and educational migration from Vietnam to Russia, the author explores the features of the Vietnamese diaspora development at various historical stages. The paper discusses the dependence of the intensity of migration flows on the nature of economic and political relations between the two countries. The author describes the distinctive features of the Vietnamese diaspora in the spheres of employment and territorial distribution in the country.
