The paper considered one of the most interesting periods of studies in Soviet history that was defined by establishing the brand-new research institutions majored in humanities being involved into the regional Caucasian studies, that started shaping the framework for fundamental issues in Caucasus Studies, among them history of studies on the Northern Caucasus.
