History of one Document (to the History of the Church “Spas-navodah”) [“Savior-on-the-waters”]

The note tells about the document devoted to the history of the construction of the Church of the Origin of the Honorable Ancient Cross of the Lord and St. Nicholas (“Christ the Savior” or “Savior on the Waters”) in St. Petersburg. The document is a typewritten letter of 1910, addressed to Grand Duchess Olga Konstantinovna and written by Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna the Elder as the President of the Academy of Arts. The document is interesting not only as a source connected with the erection of a temple- monument to sailors who died in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 but also because this paper was discovered in a private archive, previously inaccessible to researchers. This article is written as an addendum and a small clarification to the article by M. V. Shkarovsky “Show the people the face of the priest-martyr.”: the life path of Archpriest Vladimir Rybakov (1869-1934), published in the first issue of the Vestnik of the Historical Society of St. Petersburg Theological Academy.
