The article examines pension provision in the Buryat-Mongol ASSR during the post-war years, highlighting the main challenges in reorganizing the pension system. Measures implemented by the Ministry of Social Welfare significantly improved services for pensioners among workers, war veterans, labor veterans, and families of fallen soldiers between 1946 and 1952. An analysis of archival documents from the State Archive of the Republic of Buryatia and regional legislative acts of the Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic reveals that, despite difficult socio-economic conditions, the authorities prioritized social and pension support for citizens. This period marks an important stage in the development of a social state, demonstrating care and attention to the families of homeland defenders and war veterans during the challenging post-war years. The historical experience of establishing and developing pension systems during this period offers valuable lessons for contemporary efforts in the face of ongoing challenges.
