The history of media. Electrical technology. The role of television

In this article, the authors analyze the development of electric (and in the future, electronic) media from the perspective of Marshall McLuhan. The scientist argued that electrical media (such as the Telegraph, radio, movies, telephone, computer, and television) regenerate our natural audio-visual perception of the world, enhancing and transforming all functions of social and mental existence. These electric media are extensions of some physical, social, psychological or intellectual function of people, through which all the human senses are improved.
