Development history of population social service

The paper deals with the formation of the social sphere in Russia. Particular attention is paid to the social service of the population, which has recently been relevant to our country. Used information on the history of 19-20 centuries and modern documents regulating the activities of social services. The author identified the main stages of the historical formation of social assistance, as well as the formation of social services in Russia. In conclusion, the data on the social program operating in Moscow are given and the conclusion is made about the need to develop social support for the population at the present stage.
