History of Simbirsk infantry regiment

The article reveals the role and military achievements of Simbirsk infantry regiment in the first month of the Patriotic war of 1812. August, 2nd this regiment being a part of the 27th infantry division prevented the enemy from dividing the Russian army. August, 4-5th during rearguard actions the regiment contributed to systematic retreat of the whole army. August, 26th it impeded the advance of French troops at Shevardino Redoubt and withstood the French army at Semenov's fleches. The author tries to express his opinion about the historical events and contemporary issues, connected with cherishing the Patriotic traditions of the Russian people.
