History of the formation and development of the institute of local self-government in Russia

This article discusses the formation and development of the institution of local self-government in Russia. The author in the article reveals the history of local self-government through the prism of the social system, without dwelling on the history of the official consolidation of the institution of local self-government in the Russian Federation. As a result of the study, a chronology of the development of local self-government in the Russian Federation was carried out. The author also concludes that local self-government is currently in a state of development and needs to be improved, however, development should take place taking into account the historical experience of local self-government in Russia.
