The start of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station construction on the Yenisei in 1955 opened up opportunities for the development of natural resources of the Krasnoyarsk Region. However, due to the financial problems of the state and the ideas of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR N.S. Khrushchev, until the end of 1959 there was a possibility of cessation of construction work. The Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station project was subject to constant adjustments to adapt to the natural and climatic conditions of the region. Requirement N.S. Khrushchev's efforts to reduce the costs of hydropower construction led to the development of technically unacceptable proposals for the construction of an openwork dam at the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station, the introduction of continuous concreting technology, and the imposition of shortened construction periods. The Directorate of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station and the management of «KrasnoyarskGESstroy» constantly fought against unfounded innovations, involving scientists, designers, and a team of hydraulic builders in the search for solutions for the construction of hydroelectric power stations. They managed to create a well-coordinated team of builders and operators, establish relationships with suppliers of construction materials and equipment, and put into operation a unique hydroelectric power station in 1972, which became the energy base for the development of the productive forces of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The purpose of the study is to consider, based on the memories of the leaders of the Ministry of Energy and Electrification of the USSR, the directorate of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station, «KrasnoyarskGESstroy», party and Soviet bodies of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the construction process of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station, which required the coordinated work of designers, hydraulic engineers, and a large number of related organizations. Objectives of the study: to identify the reasons for the ambiguous attitude of the country's leadership towards the construction of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station; to determine the role of the director of Hydroelectric Power Station construction A.E. Bochkin in the formation and organization of the work of a team of hydroelectric buildersin the fight against unreasonable design and organizational decisions regarding a hydroelectric power station; to consider measures to eliminate the negative consequences of the construction of the Hydroelectric Power Station in the Krasnoyarsk Region. The chronological framework of the study covers the period from the start of construction of the Hydroelectric Power Station in 1955 until its commissioning in 1972. The methodological basis of the study is the theory of modernization, taking into account the characteristics of the Siberian region and the use of general scientific and special methods of historical research.
