Actual division of the sentence historical background

This study is an attempt to review the historical background of the doctrine about actual division of the sentence. Foregrounding the sentence connected with its including in the situation or the text assumes thematic-rhematic relation of its contents. As it is well known, the doctrine about actual division of the sentence is closely connected with the word-order problem. The scientists ’ views on the word-order problem are considered in the context of the construction analysis with direct (“natural ”), analytical, inverse (“figurative ”), grammatical, oratorical word order taking the sentences on information technologies as examples. The mechanism of actual division of the sentence seems to be one of the special mechanisms that makes all aspects of communication possible. By using a comparative research method, it is concluded that logical stress and word order as means of expressing actual division are inter-dependent and cannot be considered separately.
