On the basis of normative legal acts of the Russian Empire and archival materials, the system of judicial system and judicial proceedings in the Kuban in the pre-reform period is studied. The specifics of the functioning of estate institutions administering justice are analyzed, and the criterion for distinguishing their jurisdiction is indicated, which directly depended on the class affiliation of the persons involved in the case. In particular, the examples of judicial the practice shows the features of civil and criminal proceedings, the procedure for the formation of judicial bodies. In conclusion, the author concludes that the process of legislative registration of justice in the Kuban, which began in 1827, despite a number of shortcomings inherent in the all-Russian judicial system of the period under review, became a significant stage in the formation and development of local justice bodies that functioned in the Kuban region until the introduction of Judicial Charters in 1869.
