The article analyzes the historical process of formation of social equality in India through the fundamental provisions of the political and legal doctrine of Mohandas Gandhi about the caste system of social structure and the need to formally fix the abolition of untouchability. An important conclusion in the concept and political activity of Gandhi, we consider the provision on the abolition and subsequent abolition of the caste system in India, granting equal rights and freedoms to absolutely all members of Indian society. The Declaration and the statutory definition in the Indian Constitution of freedom of religion, speech, the media, all-round physical and spiritual development of the individual as a member of society says about the relevance of the study of the experience of liberation of the investigated States at the present stage. Gandhi's revolutionary approach to the historical need to change the social structure of India was quite ambiguously perceived by statesmen, representatives of the English side, scientists and philosophers. Some of the provisions of the Mahatma concept regarding technological progress, the development of machine production and, as a result, changes in the traditional way of life of Indian society have been sharply criticized. However, in our opinion, the achievement of political independence, the Declaration of equality, equal rights and freedoms, the abolition of untouchables in the Constitution of the Indian state is a significant contribution to the development of the state, rapid progressive step towards the acquisition of freedom and independence, increase of the role and importance of India within the world community, which was achieved through Gandesa and above all, thanks to the great statesman and reformer - Gandhi.
