The research reveals the identification of the main basic prerequisites for the formation of the historiosophical discourse within the framework of the Russian intellectual tradition. The paper highlights two key prerequisites: historical and religious, the synthesis of which creates, in the author's opinion, the basis for the development of historiosophy in Russia. The reflection of the complex of historical and religious prerequisites that led to the dominance of historiosophical issues in Russia allows to identify the following dominant aspects of this issue: specifics of the geopolitical position of Russia-Russia between the two worlds: East and West and, as a consequence, permanently arising military conflicts and cultural confrontation, actualizing the discourse of self-identification; Orthodox type of culture that opposes itself to Western Christianity and comprehends its own identity through socio-religious theories in the context of the Russia-West dichotomy. The historiosophical problematics based on historical and religious premises reflects the contrariety of domestic and Western cultures
