An overview of the studies on Russian serfdom by Chinese scholars

Serfdom in Russia, an important subject of studies by both Chinese and foreign historians has been covered extensively by Chinese scholars. This paper introduces the research results by Chinese scholars on the formation and development of serfdom, reform of Russian serfdom in 1861, post-reform economic development, post-reform agrarian relations, post-reform taxes and corvйe of the peasants, land bank, etc.
