The article is devoted to the problem of historicism in the novels «Steppe Roads» (1967) and «The Year of the Fire Snake» (1972) of Ts.-Zh. Zhimbiev. Although the first of the novels is written on the contemporary theme, and the second one belongs to the historical genre, they are united by the adequate portrayal of the events and reveal of the characters in close connection with the life of the country.
