Ivan Alekseevich Vyshnegradsky – Scholar, Entrepre-neur, Minister of Finance

The article is devoted to the main stages of the life and work of Finance Minister I.A. Vyshnegradsky, who played an important role in the economic development of postreform Russia. The authors aimed to show his true importance in the economic development of the country and the formation of financial policy in the late 80s – early 90s of the XIX century, to highlight the side of this personal biography, scientific and pedagogical activities and contribution of I.A. Vyshnegradsky to pedagogy. In the process of researching the topic, an analysis of special and memoir literature, monographs, publications in periodicals, archival documents, textbooks, reference book, dictionaries, memoirs of contemporaries, etc. was carried out. The relevance of the study is emphasized by the inconsistency of his work as Minister of Finance and the ambiguity of its consequences, as well as the personality of I.A. Vyshnegradsky, who received an inadequate assessment in the historiography of the issue, demanding the restoration of historical justice in relation to the personality of the scientist, entrepreneur and Minister of Finance Vyshnegradsky.
