Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev: outstanding educator of the Chuvash people (on the 175th anniversary of his birth)

Introduction . The article was prepared in connection with the 175th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding educator of the Chuvash people Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev (1848-1930). Its purpose is to present in a fairly complete form the contribution of a teacher to the development of education of one of the Russian ethnic groups. Materials and methods. In the process of work, the author used regional and axiological approaches , the following research methods: biographical, work with literature, etc. The results of the study . The article presents biographical data of Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev. The characteristic of his contribution to the development of culture and education of the Chuvash people is given. I. Ya. Yakovlev created the Chuvash alphabet, opened the Simbirsk Central Chuvash school. Friendly relations between I. Ya. Yakovlev and I.N. Ulyanov are shown. Conclusion . The conclusion is made about the need for further research of the enlightener's legacy.
