From the history of archaeological studies of the Smyadyn outskirts in Smolensk

The paper is devoted to the history of archaeological studies of a well-knownhistorical locality in Smolensk known as Smyadyn. The conclusion made on the basis ofarchival data and published materials is that this locality sparked tremendous interest fromboth lovers of the antique and professional archaeologists.
