The paper explores the first dramatic art’ undertakings in Perm as related to the all-Russian social and cultural context and specifics of the Ural region. The study considers appearance of the first company of career actors guided by the impresario P. A. Sokolov, its performances in Perm, Ekaterinburg, and Irbit. The paper examines issues of construction of theatre buildings and specifics of repertory and how it was perceived by the audience in various times.
