Electoral systems used in municipal elections

The article is devoted to the types of electoral systems that are used during elections to local self-government bodies. The study uses various legal sources: the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, the charter of the municipality, acts of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation. The use of one or another electoral system in the context of the historical and political situation is analyzed. Based on the results of the study, the author concludes that the use of a mixed or majority electoral system in municipal elections is the most effective.
